In this article I’ll show you how to create a game plan for flop strategies. You could use these instructions to create a complete game plan for all c-betting strategies, but it’ll work for any flop betting node.
The first step would be to compare the EV of different strategies. The goal here is to compare the potential slippage you get from simplifying your strategy on the given texture. For the research in our CFP we tested a lot of different strategies, but ended up only using these ones:
All other strategies weren’t really incentivized one way or another.
It can be tempting to go into a lot of detail here. The reality is that even though you might win a sliver of theoretical EV, in practice you’ll likely not remember all the different exceptions in-game, so it’s better to keep it relatively simple. For our research in the Playbook we’ve used 6 texture categories:
